| --Jamaaladeen Tacuma is one of the most innovative musicians to appear on the jazz, funk and experimental music scenes of the last decades. A electric bassist non-pareil, Jamaal first came to wide public attention as a member of Ornette Coleman's Prime Time group in the Seventies and early 80's. Since then Jamaal has played with many key figures of experimental jazz from Ronald Shannon Jackson, James Blood Ulmer, Derek Bailey and Calvin Weston to Dewey Redman, James Carter, David Murray, and the World Saxophone Quartet. ---Along the way he has also played with mainstream Rock notables like Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, mainstream Jazz legends like Pharaoh Sanders, Odean Pope and Grover Washington Jr., even while maintaining a high profile as a jazz and funk record producer in his native Philadelphia. ---As audiences around the world have discovered--and as you are about to--there is only one Jamaaladeen. |
